What Is PRAZ?

The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) is Zimbabwe's national procurement oversight body, established under the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (Chapter 22:23) of 2017. PRAZ is responsible for:

Setting procurement policies, standards, and thresholds for all public entities
Publishing and maintaining the official register of all government tenders
Regulating procurement officers and procurement entities across the public sector
Handling disputes, complaints, and appeals in the procurement process

All government ministries, state enterprises, local authorities, and public entities are required to register their tenders with PRAZ and comply with its guidelines. PRAZ publishes active tenders on its website at praz.org.zw.

How Tenders Are Published

Zimbabwe government tenders follow a defined publication process:

Ministerial notice — the procuring entity prepares the tender document and obtains PRAZ approval
PRAZ registration — the tender is listed on the PRAZ portal with a reference number
Government Gazette — major tenders are gazetted in the official Zimbabwe Government Gazette
Newspaper advertisement — public notices appear in The Herald, Chronicle, and other registered newspapers
Entity website — many ministries and parastatals post tenders on their own websites

Bidders must always download the official tender document from the procuring entity and submit bids as specified in that document.
