EcoCash market share

Zimbabwe has one of the highest mobile money adoption rates in Africa. An estimated 70% of all retail transactions β€” by volume β€” now flow through mobile money platforms, with EcoCash (Econet Wireless) commanding approximately 80% market share.

Mobile money rates are set by each operator and are typically 1–3% below the RBZ official interbank rate, reflecting the operators' own foreign currency positions and liquidity costs. POTRAZ, the telecom regulator, sets caps on fees but not on rates.
