About

Zimbabwe's exchange rates. Daily.

What is Zimbabwe Rate Watch?

Zimbabwe Rate Watch tracks the official RBZ (Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe) USD/ZWG exchange rate and key cross-rates — USD/ZAR, USD/GBP, USD/EUR — and presents them in a clean, daily dashboard for traders, importers, businesses, and diaspora.

We publish a daily rate summary email and alert subscribers when the USD/ZWG rate shifts significantly.

Data sources

Primary: RBZ (Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe)

The official USD/ZWG interbank rate is published daily by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. This is the rate used for formal trade, banking, and government transactions.

Cross-rates (ZAR, GBP, EUR) are sourced from XE.com and updated daily.

Note: Actual bureaux de change rates and parallel market rates may differ from the official RBZ rate. We display official rates only.

About the ZWG (Zimbabwe Gold)

The Zimbabwe Gold (ZWG) was introduced on April 8, 2024, replacing the Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWL) at an initial rate of 13.56 ZWG/USD. The ZWG is backed by a basket of foreign currency reserves and gold held by the RBZ.

On September 27, 2024, the ZWG was devalued by 42.55%, resetting from ~13 ZWG/USD to ~26 ZWG/USD. Most Zimbabwe urban transactions remain denominated in USD; the ZWG is used primarily for government payments and some retail.
